Launch of new microinsurance publication
January 2010 sees the launch of MicroRisk, a new publication and web portal dedicated to the growing market for insurance to protect the world's low income people.
It is the new source of information and views for everyone interested in microinsurance and other insurance schemes to benefit the poor.
Microinsurance Academy
The Micro Insurance Academy (MIA) is a Delhi-based Charitable Trust (NGO) dedicated to providing technical assistance in insurance domain-knowledge to organizations that focus on grassroots communities. With over 40 professionals in its Delhi office, MIA is the largest global microinsurance resource centre. MIA carries out the research needed for data collection & analysis underlying effective interventions, and impact evaluation. It also engages in the development of innovative, interactive, and practical training and insurance education, as well as the design and implementation of essential support tools, such as IT systems, access to reinsurance and ensuring complementarity of local plans with government promoted schemes.
Microinsurance Network
The Microinsurance Network is a membership association of funders, promoters, technical assistance providers, researchers, practitioners, and anyone involved in promoting the development and proliferation of good-value insurance products for low-income persons. The Network currently has over 40 institutional members, representing a total of around 140 microinsurance experts.
The mission of the Microinsurance Network is to promote the development and proliferation of good-value insurance products for low-income persons by providing a platform for information sharing and stakeholder coordination.
In support of its mission, the Microinsurance Network distils and disseminates lessons learnt to promote client-driven and good-value insurance; raises awareness on the demand and potential for microinsurance among key stakeholders and; contributes to the development of good practices for the industry.
